Announcement 2005 bike ride - what was it all about?
What?
On Saturday June 11th. 2005, naked cyclists will take to the streets all over the world. Some do it to make a point, others just for fun. In The Netherlands, the World Naked Bike Ride will take place this year in: Amsterdam.
Where?
The starting point is: in front of the bicycle shed on the west side of Amsterdam CS (on your right hand side as you leave the station). The exact route and finishing point haven't yet been finalised, but the ride will go mainly over cycle tracks and quiet country roads and won't be longer than c. 20 km. (x2). For more information, join the mailing list (see below).
When?
Saturday June 11th. 2005, leaving at 12:00.
Why?
To protest against oil dependency and car culture. Because you don't think anyone has the right to tell what to wear. Or because nakedness is for you symbolic of peace and innocence. Or because it's a mental challenge. Or because you're fed up with that cramped naturist beach. Or because you just feel like a nice cycle ride. That's why.
Who?
Everyone is welcome! As long as you come on a bicycle. And if you don't feel like getting totally naked, no problem. As long as you support the naked cyclists around you! Don't hestitate, but join us!
The World Naked Bike Ride is organised by volunteers in many countries, and is supported by various organisations. See the links for more info.
